Rare Tiffin Dakota Glass Pharmacy / Apothecary / Candy Store Cylinder Jar with original ground, thumb print lid.
This beautiful, Early American Pattern Glass Vertical Cylinder Display Jar measures approx 9.5” tall and 2.5” in diameter at the base. It features a diamond point pattern at the neck and thumbprint pattern border at the top and bottom edges. The jar retains its original, ground glass lid which exhibits a matching thumb print pattern. These jars have been symbolic of the pharmacy from 17th century England to the early 20th century in the United States. In the late 19th and early 20th century these jars were used to hold brightly colored, penny candy in a Candy Store or a General Store.
This outstanding, late 19th century Cylinder Jar is in excellent condition - clean and clear and exceptionally well preserved with no chips, cracks, discoloration or damage of any kind. The lid is original to the jar and undamaged.
