Hi Collectors! Here's a cute little chick driving a racing car! Who thought up such whimsical things years ago? And although nowadays we'd never give a kid a glass container to play with, it's thick glass, and probably held up pretty well to kids back in the day... heck, even when one has a crack up the side and half way around it didn't break!Yep, I wish I could report that this is in great shape, but it has one real flaw, a crack that starts behind a front tire and goes along 'til it's halfway inside the hood. When I first got the car, and discovered the crack I used a little clear glass glue on it, thinking that would stabilize it. I hope that doesn't drive some of you mad; please don't start sending hate-mail, if you don't like it, just don't bid, ok? From the side of the car where the crack started looking at it side view you don't notice it much because it looks like it's just part of the straight up and down hood louver area. And you don't see it at all looking at it from the other side, side view; you just see the curved body line sliding down by the USA. You can see it from a front view, but mainly if you know it's there. Because of the glass thickness it's not that easy to make out a lot of tiny details.
Aside from the crack, it's a pretty nice container... it has a little mold roughness, and some smalll chips, but no big chunks missing anywhere. Even the chick's beak is all there! (no metal bottom)
The piece could use cleaning... I didn't make any attempt beyond dusting.
The piece was made by Victory Glass in the 1940s in Jeannette, Pennsylvania.
I usually ship within one day of receiving payment. I like to be paid within 2 days of auction's close.
